One of the best phone's I've ever had April 27, 2010 Phantom (Yonkers, NY USA) 22 out of 25 found this review helpful
The LG Rumor Touch is one of the best cell phones I've ever had. Its touch screen is responsive and its battery life is good (it's lasted me almost a week without requiring a charge, and I text a lot). It charges relatively quickly and it threads your text messages into conversations (which is probably my favorite thing about it. I hate having to switch between my Outbox and Inbox to follow a conversation). The camera's quality is also good.
But there are things you should know about this phone before you purchase it.
First of all, this phone does NOT support instant messaging, despite what MANY websites claim. Not even AIM or Yahoo. It simply isn't an option. I purchased this phone under the impression it did, and was sorely disappointed with this, so beware if that's a big selling point for you.
Security is also a bit of an issue with this phone. Pushing the 'Lock/Power' key on the side of the phone causes the screen to lock. This can be unlocked by ANYONE by sliding the bar to the right side of the screen. Worse, even this step can be bypassed by simply sliding out the full QWERTY keyboard. The only way to truly lock the phone is to go into your settings menu, enter your passcode, and lock the phone. You must repeat this process every time you are finished using the phone; otherwise it will default back to the "slide bar" method of locking, which (as stated above) doesn't really keep anyone from using your phone.
Some people also take issue with this phone's method of hanging up, as it uses an 'End Call' button on the touchscreen rather than a physical button at the bottom of the phone. Some don't like the method of scrolling through pictures and menus, a sort of 'click and drag' method using the touchscreen. Others complain about the lack of customization on the primary screen of the phone- there is the home button and nothing else. No shortcuts or icons of any kind. None of these was a problem for me, but these are things some people might want to know before they purchase the phone.
All in all, this is an excellent messaging phone (and I don't think I could turn back from touchscreens after this one, either). Some websites falsely advertise it's capabilities, but other than that I would recommend this phone to anyone.
Good Phone June 11, 2010 Colten R. Riddle (Lake Havasu City, AZ) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had to get this phone instead of a smart phone. Sprint changed their rules recently where you have to have a plan with internet to have a smart phone. This is the best non-smart phone available. I'm happy with the purchase. I like the large 3in touch screen. A huge improvement over the Palm Centro I had previously.
has been a great phone July 18, 2010 KG54 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
this phone does everything i need it to do the only problems i have had was when i first got the phone i had the 49.99 a month plan and trust me your gonna need internet you cant do anything without it so i switched over to the 69.99 a month plan and its been great the battery holds for a long time the only thing just like any other phone some times very rarely ill have to cut it off and turn it back on due to the fact that it may freeze up and stop sending and recieveing text messages but the sprint tv is great the video feed is in HD so and the keys are easy to touch while typing has been the best phone and service i have had in my opinion same service but EXTREMELY CHEAPER AND WAY BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE THAN VERIZON.
Rumor Touch July 20, 2010 Jarmel Hurtt (Philadelpha, PA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I ordered my Rumor Touch from Sprint, it came the next morning. Anyways, this is a great phone. I really like how it groups my texts into conversations. I text alot of people at the same time, it says the name of the contact and the message they sent.
I think that this is more of a messaging phone more than anything, I'd recommend a data pack because I'm almost positive Sprint is charging me extra for sending picture mail even though they claim it's free. And $0.03/kb is alot of money after a while. A shitload actually. a 30kb picture will run your bill up one damn dollar. So yeah, keep that in mind.
It's a decent weight of course, the touch screen responds smoothly. I love the way this phone operates. The "Hello UI" feature is the best way to update all my friends or all my social networks at once. You just circle a group of contacts then send.
This phone plays .m4a files and .mp3. I haven't tried any others but it playing .m4a is impressive. It also takes regular headphones.
I give it a 5.
Great if you get the work arounds for 3rd party apps! August 23, 2010 danatheteacher This phone is great. Its probably the best phone I've ever owned to date.
I did not like that it was so locked down-meaning, you could not install 3rd party apps or put on your own ringtones/wallpapers.
There are work arounds I've learned and their is lots of info out on the net now on how to do all those things. With the work arounds, I am extremely pleased.
The best places to find information on the work arounds is at @Hubpages and @Howard Forums.
